UK lawyers praise Chaudhry’s reinstatement

LONDON: The Association of Pakistani Lawyers (APL), a body of lawyers, solicitors, barristers and judges of Pakistani origin in the United Kingdom, jointly welcomed the decision of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to reinstate sacked chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, APP reported. The APL also welcomed Gilani’s decision to seek a review of the Supreme Court verdict against the Sharif brothers, saying that respecting the mandate was the key to promoting tolerance in the state. In a statement, the APL declared the decision of the Pakistani government as the victory of the whole nation and the civil society, adding that the government deserved to be appreciated for respecting the will of the people. app
